Building a sustainable, nutrition-rich ecosystem to reduce hunger and strengthen community health π±π

On 23rd December 2025, an important milestone was achieved under the We Plant initiative with the establishment of the first Nutritious Forest in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu. This meaningful step was initiated by our dedicated Tiruvannamalai staff member, Ms. Rajeswari, marking the beginning of a long-term effort to strengthen community nutrition and environmental sustainability.
The initiative was carried out with the committed support of Ms. Beulah Priyadarsini, District Program Coordinator, and focused on planting nutrition-rich fruit trees such as guava, custard apple, and mango. These trees were carefully chosen for their nutritional value and their ability to thrive locally, ensuring lasting benefits for the community. π³π
The Nutritious Forest is designed to be more than a green space. It represents a sustainable food source that will contribute to reducing malnutrition and hunger, improve access to fresh fruits, and promote awareness around nutrition and healthy living. As these trees grow, they will support not only food security but also environmental balance and community resilience.
Through initiatives like this, We Plant continues to demonstrate how purposeful, community-led action can create meaningful change. By nurturing nature today, we are cultivating healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities for tomorrow. π±π
