From Schoolyards to Sustainable Nutrition in Darjeeling

January 8, 2026

Under the We Plant initiative, a meaningful step toward sustainable nutrition was taken today in Siliguri, Darjeeling District. Our dedicated team member, Ms. Rina Biswakarma (District Program Coordinator), collected 70 avocado seeds from Uttar Palash Primary School, turning a simple school activity into a powerful act of community care. 🌾✨

Each seed collected represents far more than a future sapling. These avocado seeds carry the promise of improved nutrition, reduced malnutrition, and long-term food security for local communities. By encouraging the growth of nutritious, sustainable food sources, the initiative directly addresses hunger while promoting healthier diets.

Engaging schools and children in seed collection plays a vital role in building awareness and responsibility from an early age. When students participate in such activities, they learn that caring for seeds also means caring for their own health, their families, and the environment around them. πŸŒΏπŸ’š

Through collective action and education, We Plant continues to nurture sustainable food systems at the grassroots level.

Together, we plant today for a healthier and more nourished tomorrow β€” one seed and one child at a time. 🌱🌍
