Empowering Schools Through Seed Banks in Kudal Block, Maharashtra

Under the We Plant Initiative, a significant milestone was achieved with the successful establishment of a Seed Bank in a school at Kudal Block, Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra.
Facilitated by our dedicated team member, Ms. Rushali, this initiative represents a meaningful step toward strengthening grassroots nutrition and building sustainable food systems within the community.
The Seed Bank is more than just a repository of seeds—it is a foundation for long-term food security. By promoting local cultivation and encouraging schools to adopt sustainable food practices, the initiative directly contributes to reducing malnutrition and hunger.
Through this effort, children and communities are empowered to:
The initiative creates opportunities for practical learning while addressing real nutritional challenges at the grassroots level.
An essential component of this programme is education. Students are introduced to the concepts of biodiversity, sustainable farming, and the importance of locally grown food. These lessons extend beyond textbooks, fostering environmental awareness and responsibility.
By integrating these principles into school activities, the Seed Bank becomes a living classroom—where knowledge translates into action and awareness evolves into practice.
The success of this initiative was made possible through the enthusiastic support and collaboration of the school management and staff. Their commitment reflects the power of collective effort in driving sustainable change.
With every Seed Bank established, we move closer to building healthier communities, stronger food systems, and brighter futures for children.
Together, we continue nurturing hope, resilience, and sustainable nutrition—one seed at a time. 🌱
