A seed may be small, but it holds the potential to nourish communities, support biodiversity, and grow a healthier future. At WePlant India, we are working to build a culture where seed saving becomes a shared responsibility—starting with schools and children.
As part of this effort, our team member, Ms. Sarika Jadhao from Buldhana, Maharashtra, took an important step towards strengthening seed conservation by visiting Z.P. Marathi Primary School, Buldhana, Maharashtra, and establishing a Seed Bank under the WePlant India initiative.
The newly established Seed Bank will provide students with an opportunity to understand the importance of saving seeds, growing plants, conserving biodiversity, and protecting natural resources.
More importantly, it can help children discover the connection between seeds, food, nutrition, and community well-being. By learning to conserve and grow plants, students can become active participants in efforts to build sustainable food systems and contribute to reducing challenges such as hunger and malnutrition.
A school seed bank is more than a collection of seeds. It is a learning space where children can develop environmental responsibility and understand how small actions can create meaningful change.
We sincerely thank the school faculty for their valuable support and cooperation in making this initiative possible. Their involvement is essential in creating an environment where children can learn, participate, and take ownership of environmental conservation.
We also extend our appreciation to Ms. Sarika Jadhao for her dedicated efforts in taking the WePlant India initiative forward at the grassroots level and helping bring the vision of seed conservation into schools and communities.
Every seed saved today carries the possibility of becoming a plant, a source of nutrition, and a contribution to a more biodiverse environment.
When children learn to save seeds, they are not just preserving nature—they are learning to protect, nurture, and sustain the future.
Let’s continue building a movement where every school can become a space for seed conservation, environmental learning, and community action.
🌱 Save the Seeds. Sow the Seeds. Grow a Healthier Future.
