WePlant India and Bharat Soka Gakkai Unite to Launch the National SeedBank Initiative

In a remarkable step toward environmental sustainability and food security, WePlant India, in collaboration with Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG), proudly launched the SeedBank Initiative — a visionary program designed to empower schools and communities across India to nurture a sustainable and hunger-free future.
The online event brought together an inspiring network of schools, including:
Graphite Higher Secondary School, Bhopal
Vivekanand Vidya Vihar, Maral, Madhya Pradesh
Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Hurda, Rajasthan
Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Rishabhdev, Rajasthan
Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj
The session was graced by Dr. Santosh G, Founder of WePlant India Trust, whose motivational address set the tone for a movement rooted in awareness, compassion, and action. In his talk, Dr. Santosh emphasized the significance of seed preservation and urged every student to take up the mission of planting a thousand seeds — a symbolic yet powerful act that represents hope, continuity, and sustainability.
Beyond planting, the initiative encourages students to create their own personal SeedBanks, helping them understand the vital role of seeds in combating hunger, malnutrition, and environmental degradation. By actively collecting, preserving, and sowing seeds, students become environmental stewards and changemakers in their own right.
The SeedBank Initiative aims not only to promote biodiversity but also to instill a lifelong respect for nature and the cycles that sustain life. It is a call to action for communities to come together and build a self-sufficient, nutritionally secure future — one seed at a time.
Together, WePlant India and Bharat Soka Gakkai are sowing the seeds of transformation — nurturing minds, strengthening communities, and cultivating a greener, healthier planet for generations to come.
