Empowering young minds to preserve seeds, fight malnutrition, and build sustainable communities — one school at a time.
On 17th July 2025, a remarkable series of three awareness sessions under the “We Plant – Seedbank Initiative” were conducted across schools in Shyamnagar, Kanpur, in collaboration with local leaders, educators, and school authorities.
The initiative aimed to educate students about the importance of seed preservation, biodiversity, and the creation of community-driven seed banks — sustainable systems that can help reduce malnutrition and hunger through long-term access to nutritious plant varieties.
The first session was organized by Ms. Nitigya (Principal) with strong support from the teaching staff. It was facilitated by Ms. Neelam Shukla (Sabhasad) and Ms. Shakti Shukla (School Manager).
A total of 40 students participated enthusiastically, engaging in hands-on learning activities about seed collection and sustainability. The principal appreciated the effort and shared encouraging feedback about the positive impact of the session.
The second session, led by Ms. Priyanka (Head Teacher) and her team, continued the momentum with the same facilitators — Ms. Neelam and Ms. Shakti — guiding the activities.
Around 60 students participated, demonstrating curiosity and commitment. Teachers highlighted how the session fostered both environmental awareness and community engagement, encouraging students to take pride in protecting local ecosystems.
The third and final session of the day took place at Setiya Park School, under the leadership of Ms. Shakti Shukla (Manager) and Ms. Neelam Shukla (Sabhasad).
35 students participated, enthusiastically engaging in discussions and seed collection activities. The session concluded with a message of continuity — inspiring students to keep nurturing their green habits and take active roles in building a sustainable community.
Across all three schools, the initiative received overwhelmingly positive feedback from principals, teachers, and students alike. Each session resulted in meaningful seed collections, heartfelt participation, and a shared sense of purpose among young learners.
The events marked a significant milestone in expanding the We Plant program’s reach — reinforcing that when children understand the value of seeds, they also understand their power to change the future. 🌍💚
Together, we are cultivating eco-consciousness, responsibility, and resilience in the next generation — one seed, one school, one community at a time.
