Sowing Seeds of Change: Children Lead the Way in Building Nutrition Forests in Uttarakhand

On a bright morning at Prathmik Vidyalaya & Anganwadi Kendre, Barechhina, in the Almora district of Uttarakhand, a meaningful session took root — quite literally. 🌱
Organised under the WE Plant Initiative by Ms. Sara Joseph (DPC, Almora) with the dedicated support of Ms. Sunita Joshi, teachers, and young learners, the event focused on Seed Collection for Nutrition Forests.
👧🌾 With the enthusiastic participation of 20 students, children learned how saving and planting seeds can combat malnutrition and hunger in their communities. Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities, the session inspired them to view seeds not just as plants in waiting, but as symbols of nourishment, sustainability, and hope.
✨ As one student joyfully shared, “We now know that every seed saved is a promise for tomorrow.”
This initiative beautifully demonstrated how small, community-driven actions can blossom into long-term impact — fostering food security, environmental awareness, and sustainable living among future generations.
🌍💚 Together, we are sowing hope and cultivating a future where every child grows up in a greener, healthier world.
