Another Seed Bank Takes Root: Growing a Greener Future

15 Seed Banks, Countless Seeds, and One Growing Vision for a Greener India

A single seed can grow into a tree, provide shade and nourishment, and contribute to a healthier environment. When communities come together to save and sow those seeds, they can create lasting change.

We are delighted to announce the establishment of the 15th We Plant Seed Bank at Kristalaya Mercy Mission School in Purba Medinipur district. This milestone marks another step forward in our efforts to encourage children and communities to preserve seeds, plant trees, and build a greener future.

The initiative was led by our District Program Coordinator (DPC), Ms. Munmunsau Mandal, in collaboration with Mr. Lakshman Mandal. To mark the establishment of the seed bank, jackfruit and jamun seeds were sown, bringing new life and new possibilities to the initiative.

Planting Seeds for Tomorrow

Seed banks play an important role in encouraging the conservation and sharing of seeds within communities. By introducing children to the process of collecting, preserving, and planting seeds, we can help nurture a deeper understanding of nature and environmental responsibility.

The seeds planted today may eventually grow into trees that offer shade, fruit, fresh air, and a habitat for biodiversity. More importantly, they represent the possibility of a future where communities actively participate in protecting and nurturing their natural environment.
