Empowering families through nutrition, sustainability, and community-led action under the WePlant India initiative

In a meaningful effort to promote nutrition, environmental sustainability, and community well-being, the WePlant India initiative took another step forward with the inspiring mission “Save Seeds, Grow Seeds.” Today, Vivek Kamkare, along with DPC Deepa, visited Government Medical College Yavatmal to engage with families of children receiving support for clubfoot treatment.
During the visit, six families were provided with 20 pomegranate seeds and 20 guava seeds each. These fruit-bearing plants were carefully selected for their nutritional value and potential to contribute to healthier diets within households and communities. The initiative encourages families not only to plant the seeds but also to become active participants in creating greener and more sustainable surroundings.
Families were invited to document and share photographs of their plantation journey, fostering a sense of ownership, responsibility, and connection with nature. Through this simple yet impactful activity, participants become partners in a larger movement aimed at promoting environmental awareness and improving access to nutritious food.
At the heart of the WePlant India initiative is the belief that small actions can lead to significant change. By encouraging the cultivation of fruit trees, the program seeks to address malnutrition and hunger while simultaneously promoting biodiversity, environmental stewardship, and long-term community resilience.
Every seed planted today represents hope for a healthier tomorrow—a future where children grow up in communities that are both nourished and environmentally conscious. As these seeds take root and flourish, they symbolize growth, opportunity, and the collective effort to create a better world for future generations.
Together, let us continue nurturing both children and nature, building a greener, healthier, and more sustainable India—one seed at a time. 🌱🍎🌳✨
