We Plant strengthens long-term food security through school-led seed bank initiatives

Under the We Plant initiative, a significant milestone has been achieved in the Sindhudurg district of the Konkan region, where our dedicated team member Ms. Rushali successfully established seven Seed Banks across the district. This effort marks a strong step toward building sustainable food systems rooted in community participation and environmental responsibility.

Seed Banks play a vital role in preserving indigenous and nutrition-rich seeds, ensuring that communities have continued access to crops that are locally adaptable, resilient, and beneficial for health. By placing these Seed Banks in schools, the initiative directly engages students and educators, turning schools into centers of learning, action, and long-term impact.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the school principals and faculty members whose encouragement, cooperation, and leadership made this initiative possible. Their active involvement is crucial in spreading awareness about nutrition, sustainability, and community responsibility, and in ensuring that these Seed Banks are not just established, but actively used and nurtured.
