World Environment Day Celebration: Launching the Nutrition Forest Mission in Yavatmal

Planting Trees, Nurturing Nutrition, Building Hope

On the occasion of World Environment Day, WePlant India proudly joined hands with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Yavatmal, the District & Sessions Court, Yavatmal, and the Social Forestry Department to organize a meaningful tree-plantation drive at the District & Sessions Court premises in Yavatmal, Maharashtra.

The initiative brought together judicial officers, government departments, environmental advocates, and community members with a shared commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development. As part of the plantation drive, a variety of fruit-bearing and native trees, including Mango, Jamun, Tamarind, Custard Apple, Bael, and Neem, were planted. These trees symbolize not only environmental stewardship but also a long-term investment in the health and well-being of future generations.

A significant highlight of the programme was the launch of WePlant India’s Nutrition Forest Mission—an ambitious vision aimed at establishing fruit-tree forests across India. The mission seeks to create sustainable sources of nutritious food that can be freely accessed by malnourished children, pregnant and lactating mothers, elderly citizens, and vulnerable communities.

By combining environmental restoration with nutritional support, the Nutrition Forest Mission represents an innovative approach to addressing two critical challenges: ecological sustainability and food insecurity. Every tree planted today has the potential to provide nourishment, improve biodiversity, strengthen local ecosystems, and contribute to healthier communities for years to come.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Shri S. U. Baghele, all respected judicial officers, the District Court administration, the District Legal Services Authority, the Social Forestry Department, and every participant whose support and dedication made this initiative a success.
